Our smallholding comprises of three grazing fields, two of which are approximately and acre and a half, all have mature hedges also with stockproof fencing and farm gates. We have an acre of planted broadleaf woodland which has grown for 20 years and fronts onto the river Dulais. There is a small copse of natural trees, ferns and wild flowers also with a front to the river. These woodlands support a profusion of bluebells and snow drops in the season.
The garden caters for wildlife growing teasel, ivy, buddleja, pyracantha, sedum and poppies while the hedges are wonderfully productive with blackberry, sloe, wild gooseberry, holly and haws. We are visited by badger,fox, stoat, otter and mole. Mature trees enclose our garden.
Awake to the dawn chorus and sleep to the hoot of the owls. Blue and great tit, swallow, nuthatch, blackbird, robin, wren and sparrow nest close to our cottage.
